Japanese Combs

Japanese Combs is a collaboration between Jonathan and Norwich based Illustrator, Stacey Knights.

When Jonathan was kindly given a set of beautiful Japanese combs by a friend, we knew the way he photographed them had to have a different approach to it. He wanted to keep the combs in context but move away from conventional still life and portraiture.

Having go to know Stacey before on the #Bagsie project, we were really pleased when she agreed to work with us on this.  She created some fantastic portraits that drew from traditional Japanese paintings, using fine strands of paper to work the combs subtly into the hair.
