Between Saturday 6 August and Thursday 11 August 2011, thousands of people rioted in several London boroughs and in cities and towns across England.

Later that year, The Guardian ran a series of articles about the Riots, and the advertising for that was inspired by the ‘Broken Britain’ expression coined by the Work and Pensions Secretary, Iain Duncan Smith. Jonathan has captured the moment when a glass map of Great Britain is shattered, refracting and reflecting the light (all in camera), creating this beautiful and powerful image.
