Delighted to share that Creativepool has awarded Jonathan Gold in the Photography category for his Kirlian Series; the first Gold given in this category in five years.
Jonathan’s Kirlian Photography work is self-initiated, born out of a fascination with making the invisible visible, quite literally, in this case. Using a custom-built high-voltage rig, everyday fruit and vegetables were exposed to electrical fields, producing these extraordinary corona discharges around their edges. No digital fireworks, no simulated sparks: every glow, every filament of light was caught entirely in-camera. It appears a red pepper has serious energy when you give it 20,000 volts.

“There’s something quietly reassuring about images this organic, born from real voltage, real produce and a fair bit of trial and error in a dark studio. No prompt could ever quite get there, which perhaps makes it no bad thing to have up your sleeve for a food or drinks brand looking for a genuine point of difference. The brief to myself was simple: keep the composition simple, and let the aura do the talking.”

Jonathan is also hugely honoured to pick up three Bronze awards too, for the Budweiser FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign, shot with Jones Knowles Ritchie, and for Perrier and Fever-Tree. A brilliant year for liquid, light and a bit of lightning.

Huge thanks to Creativepool, and to the brilliant teams and clients who trust us to chase these ideas.
