Working with the team at Rose, we were asked to create the marketing material for the new production of Aida to be staged by the English National Opera at the Coliseum.
Aida is a tragic love story between a princess and military commander and their struggle when choosing between love and country. This polarity of choice is reflected in the minimalism of the set and the subsequent concept for the marketing imagery. A singular shaft of light and the symbolism of triangles, given the Egyptian setting, seemed the perfect visual metaphor for the light and shade of the story, Aida’s heart-wrenching journey, and how the lovers ultimately await their death, together in a tomb beneath.
The image was used across all advertising media, the programme cover itself, and formed the basis for the 30" cinema commercial which we also made.
